Bauchi State Government says plans are under way for the upward review of salary structure and remuneration of members of traditional institutions including Emirs, District and Village Heads across the state.
The State Governor Bala Mohammed made this known while granting audience to members of the State Council of Emirs at Government House Bauchi.
Bala Mohammed said the move was to enhance their royal duties of complementing government efforts in addressing security challenges currently resurfacing in some local government areas of the state.
According to him despite the scarce resources in the state’s treasury, his administration decided to review the earnings of traditional tittle holders to keep their eyes off on the offers being made by bandits and hoodlums.
He explained that the recent removal of some District and Village Heads who compromised the rule of engagement was to serve as deterrent to others.
Earlier the Deputy Chairman of the State Council of Chief and Emir of Katagum Alhaji Faruq Umar II said the visit was to appreciate the Governor for his concern to traditional institutions.
The delegation include the Emirs of Katagum Alhaji Faruq Umar II, Misau Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman, Ningi Alhaji Yunusa Muhammadu Danyaya, Jama’are Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Wabi and Dass Uthman Biyaminu Usman.
