The Katukan Bauchi and District Head of Toro, Alhaji Umar Adamu, has conferred the traditional title of Jakadiya to the Country Project Coordinator of the Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), Mrs Fossen Grace Okelola.
The District Head made this known during the end of tour visit of the project to his palace to mark the final stage of MEDA project in Nigeria.
Alhaji Umar Adamu said, the gesture became necessary considering the positive impact of MEDA interventions among Women and Youth in Toro Local Government Area.
He said period of the implementation of the project, MEDA Nigeria has brought so many changes on the live of his subjects to include business participation among Women, savings loans, Girl Child education, youth empowerment and reducing family conflict among others, that eased the work of traditional rulers.
He enjoined the Jakadiyar Katukan Bauchi to use the title to double her effort in Community Development services, and called on other leaders to emulate her style of leadership for positive results.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of MEDA family, Alhaji Iliya Shu’aibu, the Community and stakeholders liasing officer of MEDA, said the gesture done by the District Head of Toro to MEDA will never go in vain, and applauded Toro people for the support accorded to MEDA throughout the project intervention in the area.
