NNL: Wikki Tourists FC defeats NAF FC, 1 goal to nil

Mamuda Aliyu’s 82nd penalty goal was the saviour for Wikki Tourists FC quest to grab the maximum three points in a pulsating encounter with the visiting NAF FC, Abuja in the ongoing #nnl23/24 league season.

Played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi the match showed the Airforce team exhibiting resilience and determination right from the first whistle to deny the home team all attempts to score a goal.

NAF which featured an improved team from the last game with Wikki FC in Abuja, are fighting to escape the relegation waters.

Chances were created by Wikki Tourists players in the first 25 minutes of the match when Nasiru Jibrin fired a tumultuous shot but the NAF goalkeeper was alive to his duty ending the first half in a barren draw.

On resumption into the second half, Wikki Tourists players became rejuvenated, mounting more pressure on the visitors, but, their efforts fell short of changing the stand of the game including a 51minutes one on one chance by  Promise Damala and the NAF keeper till in the 82 minutes when pressure forced a NAF defender to commit a foul in the box during a goal mouth scramble.

NAF FC protested but after a while, returned to the field and Mamuda Aliyu stepped forward and executed the resultant kick sending NAF keeper to the wrong direction.

In a post match interview,Wikki Tourists FC, Technical Adviser, Azeez Audu Mohammed said that it was a difficult game for his team.

According to him, “It was really a game that was hard for us and you can also remember that it was our first game in the Ramadan fasting period, but, Alhamdulillahi, the most important thing is the 3 points which we have kitted.”

The TA added that, The match has come and gone, our next target is Nasarawa Utd FC, and, we are hopeful of something good to come out from that game in sha Allah.”
